Alexander Calder

Red Pennant

1966

sheet metal, brass, wire, paint

incised with the artist's monogram on the base

14 ½ x 11 ½ x 5 in. (36.8 x 29.2 x 12.7 cm)

Executed in 1966, this work is registered in the archives of the Calder Foundation, New York, under application number A07848.

This work is in very good and sound condition overall. The elements move freely. There is evidence of light handing and wear to the painted elements, including scattered minute losses, as well as a few scattered scuffs and abrasions. Under close inspection there is some rubbing to the patina visible on the brass element.
