Overall in excellent condition. This sleek pair of chairs designed for the Fondation Maeght retains the integrity of the patinated bronze elements in well-preserved condition. The patinated bronze surfaces present with minor surface irregularities which are inherent to the making and characteristic of the artist’s practice. When viewed in person, the bronze elements present with beautiful and subtle green and brown hues which add depth and three-dimensionality to the work. The recessed areas of the bronze present with occasional and very minute verdigris marks, consistent with age and not visually distracting. The patinated iron surfaces present very well overall, with some scattered areas of losses and discoloration to the patina which are not visually distracting. The iron with some scattered and light oxidation and rust marks throughout, consistent with age and not visually distracting. The later suede upholstery is in excellent condition. An elegant and beautifully preserved pair of this rare chair model by Diego Giacometti.
