circa 1970s

agate mosaic, cement, resin, painted steel

signed Chale in bronze

13 ¾ x 54 ½ x 34 ¾ in. (34.9 x 138.4 x 88.2 cm)

Overall in excellent condition. The tabletop presents with a stunning mosaic of dazzling agate pieces, all in original and stable condition. When viewed in person, the highly textural agate presents with an array of subtle hues that include shades of blue grey, crystal white and copper brown. The tabletop with some surface scratches to the precious stones, minute imperfections and abrasions to the surface (some possibly original) as well as light surface residue consistent with gentle use. The side edges of the tabletop with some light surface scratches and small indentations to the painted cement surface. One area under the signature with a horizontal hairline crack to the painted cement measuring approximately 3 in. wide which is stable. The underside of the tabletop presents with some losses to the paint, not visible when the piece is installed. The painted steel base presents with light surface scratches, scattered and small discolorations and some very light abrasions concentrated to the edges. Upon close inspection, the base with occasional and very minimal inpainting consistent with the original color. A highly dynamic piece by Ado Chale with a unique color palette.
