In 1843, he left for Italy where he enjoyed much success, in particular with his Sicilian landscapes. He died there at the age of thirty.

The Island of Møn in Denmark has attracted artists and tourists alike for many years due to its varied landscape, including woodlands, grasslands, meadows, wetlands, coastal areas, ponds and steep hills. This picture is an atmospheric rendering of the island's best-known treasure - the white chalk cliffs along its eastern coast.
