Mary Queen of Scots

signed Edmund/ Dulac (lower right) and numbered and titled No 6. Mary Queen of Scots;

further inscribed, verso: Mary Queen of Scots

watercolor and gouache over traces of pencil on paperboard

sight size: 13 by 12 in.; 33 by 30.5 cm.

framed: 23 ½ by 19 ⅝ in.; 59.6 by 49.8 cm.

This drawing is on paperboard and hinged to a 20th Century decorative mount. The current mount covers a substantial amount of the larger sheet with only the drawn artwork visible when the mount is closed. The drawn artwork remains in good condition throughout with the watercolor well preserved and colors vibrant. Undrawn areas of the sheet borders show scattered handling marks and stains. Three old adhesive marks located in the upper left, upper center and upper right presumably created from a previous mount that was applied. Sold in a modern wood frame.
