William Theed II

Of Anglo-French parentage, William Theed trained at the Royal Academy Schools and worked in Baily's studio for five years. He travelled to Rome in 1826, where he worked with Thorvaldsen, Gibson and Wyatt, only returning to England having secured the royal commission for statues of Psyche and Narcissus. He remained a favourite sculptor of Queen Victoria, and several works by him decorate Buckingham Palace.
