The Octa Automatique is the very first model of F.P. Journe's Octa series of wristwatches, launched in 2001 and features a patented ultra-thin large date display consisting of two concentric discs carrying the numerals encircled by a driving wheel to ensure admirable readability.
It is thought that only 2000 examples across all FP Journe’s early pieces were produced using brass for their movements before they graduated production into this constructed from solid gold. Given this inherent rarity and their association with the inception of what is rightly considered contemporary independent watch making’s most important brands and in addition to the fact that they are housed in the original and most desirable 38mm case size, they are considered the most sought after and collectable of the brands pieces.
