The present Speedmaster limited edition was issued in Japan only in 1999 as a homage to Japanese manga author Leiji Matsumoto, author and drawer of iconic Galaxz Express 999. Despite its conventional front looks, this timepiece shows its singularity when one looks at the back, which displays a drawing of lady Maetel, forefront character of the manga. The portrait is flanked by a 999 engraving and Matsumoto's signature. Preserved in excellent condition, the example on offer bears the number 1364 out of a mere 1'999 examples. This rarely seen watch on the open market is avidly sought-after, making it a valuable addition to serious Speedmaster collections.
