Gerald Genta stands as one, if not the most iconic wristwatch designers of the 20th century. His contributions to the industry include the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, the Patek Philippe Nautilus, Omega Constellation, IWC Ingenieur among many other legendary designs.
Aged 38, Gerald Genta launched his own eponymous brand in 1969. The innovative designs and complex horology grasped the collecting world's attention, with some of the most impressive pieces adorning the famous wrists of creatives, actors and eminent royal family members. In 2000, Bulgari acquired the rights for the Gerald Genta brand, horizontally integrating the know-how and designs to their own collections.
The present Arena No 3 model is crafted from palladium and platinum in the typical rounded case the brand is known for. The timepiece is powered by an automatic calibre featuring the complex blend of a perpetual calendar and a tourbillon. This Grande Complication timepiece touts a semi skeletonised dial allowing the view of the 'Perlage' finished base plates. The perpetual calendar information is displayed with elegant and symmetrical discs, for a unique and modern twist to two of the most traditional complications. The hands finish the dial design off, with a blend of voluptuous and striking white hands, ensuring great legibility.
Now a collectible timepiece from an important brand, the present example is offered with its original presentation case and outer packaging.
