Gibson SG

Pete Townshend's Gibson 50th Anniversary SG Electric Guitar, 2011

Double-cutaway solidbody in Alpine White (or Polaris White) finish, black pickguard, mahogany neck.

Gibson USA hardshell case with silver block-letter WHO stencil.

Signed by Pete Townshend

Donated by Pete Townshend / Simon Law
Pete Townshend has stated often that the Gibson SG was his guitar of preference. It was the model he used exclusively on stage while touring with The Who from the late 1960's until the early 1970's. The model became synonmous with Pete for his signature guitar smashing during the infamous performances.

Gibson released this model to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Live at Leeds-era Who performances and recordings. It features all of the period-correct details of an early '60s SG Special, with Townshend's preferred hardware complement.
