the shade executed by Leonard R. Foss

burled fir, hide shade with leather roping and painted decoration

23½ in. (59.7 cm) high

16½ in. (41.9 cm) diameter of shade

Overall in very good condition. The wood with some scattered extremely minor surface scratches and abrasions consistent with age and gentle use. The brass fitting with a minor discoloration, only visible when the shade is not assembled. The shade is original and in very good condition with some scattered minor discolorations consistent with age and gentle handling, and with a minor loss to the leather along the bottom border near one of the corners. When viewed firsthand, the painted decoration displays a harmonious and complementary palette of pale dusty pink, sky blue, rust, and pale grey.
