PAIR OF CLUB CHAIRS AND OTTOMANS

circa 1945

fir, original red leather upolstery, original hammered brass tacks

chairs: 31¼ x 27¾ x 32 in. (79.4 x 70.5 x 81.3 cm) each

ottomans: 14¼ x 18¾ x 18¾ in. (36.2 x 47.6 x 47.6 cm) each

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces throughout both chairs and ottomans with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, dents and light wear consistent with age and use. The fir with some occasional irregularities and separations to the wood grain, which is typical of inland fir and most of which were filled in by the artist at the time of production. The original leather upholstery of the chairs and ottomans is in very good condition and presents with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, wear, creasing, and occasional discolorations consistent with age and use. The chairs with some minor cracking which appears to have been stabilized at some point in the history of the pieces. The back edges of each of the seat cushions with a small area of wear to the leather surface, not visible when the backrest cushion is assembled. All four of the fastening straps on the two backrests with some weakness at the seams where the fasteners attached to the cushions. Each of the two cushions with one fastener which is partially detached and would benefit from stabilization. One of the partially detached fasteners with some minor loose strings. The fasteners with more concentrated wear and crackling to the leather. The ottomans with some light wear with associated minor losses to the leather concentrated to the edges and piping. The ottomans with a few scattered losses to the leather concentrated to the corners and with some minor abrasions and scuffing throughout. A great matched pair of chairs and ottomans in original condition.
