A rare Louis XVI tellurium, Charles Francois Delamarche, Paris, circa 1785


2¾-inch terrestrial globe signed in a cartouche A Paris, Chez C F Delamarche, rue du Foin St Jacq, mounted on a frame of three gear wheels to rotate around a central gilt sun on an ebonised meridian plate with printed ring and gilt starburst centre, the baluster stem and moulded circuilar base black japanned and gilt with flowers; together with another similar tellurium with 2¾-inch terrestrial globe signed as the previous globe, the mechanical frame with feed-off for a moon (moon lacking), the meridian plate with brass edging, the stand decorated as previous, (2)

both incomplete and with damage to the globes, on black japanned stands,

13in 33cm. high and 12¼in. 31cm. high

A single very similar tellurium by Delamarche was sold Christies, South Kensington, 29th November, 2000, Lot 32 for £9,988.
