A GEORGE III MAHOGANY MUSICAL LONGCASE CLOCK, THOMAS HUNTER, LONDON, CIRCA 1785
12¼-inch dial plate with floral rococo spandrels, the enamel dial with date aperture, the arch with an enamel sector with indications for twelve tunes and signed Thomas Hunter, London flanked by subsidiary strike/silent and chime/not chime dials, the substantial movement with six knopped pillars, anchor escapement, trip repeat rack striking on a bell and playing one of twelve tunes on the hour or at will on a carillon of thirteen bells via a 32cm. cylinder and twenty four hammers, the case with broken-arch top and replaced ball and spire finials above a foliate fret frieze and stop-fluted hood pillars, the shaped trunk door flanked by stop-fluted pilasters, the panelled plinth with stepped base and shaped apron
