Ariane Dandois, Paris

The masks heading the legs of this unusual console are very characteristic of south German furniture design of the early rococo period in the manner of the Bavarian court architect François de Cuvilliés. The construction and decoration of the table, however, with the inset marble top and reliance on a more flat style of carving in low relief, are more typical of Italian work.
