decorated by Marc Louis Solon, incised signed L Solon, decorated in white slip with Cupid gardening, pouring a jar of water at the base of a tree, his tools laid beside him, the shoulder with a pale olive-green ground reserving a gilt-scale pattern, the reverse with a gilt-foliate-scroll medallion, crowned globe MINTONS marks in gold, incised shape number 2443, engraved 5018

In July 1895 Louis Solon spent four days working on a pair of peacock-blue-ground vases of this shape entitled "Sowing" and "Reaping". The present vase could possibly be one of those listed.
