A Fabergé gem-set gold and guilloché enamel 'Bay Tree' brooch, probably August Holmström, St Petersburg, circa 1900


shaped as a flowering orange tree in a pot, with gold stems, green guilloché enamel leaves and flowers set with pearls, with oyster white enamel ribbon-tied frame, struck on the pin with indistinct maker's mark, with scratched inventory number 85994

height 2.2cm, 1in.

The design of the present lot evokes the famous Fabergé Imperial Bay Tree Easter Egg of 1911. The Imperial Easter Egg was a gift from Emperor Nicholas II to his mother, Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna and is now held in the collection of the Fabergé Museum in St Petersburg.
