The design of the present pendant is very similar to the Imperial Clover Egg, held in the Armoury Museum of the Kremlin in Moscow. The 1902 Clover Leaf Egg was an Easter gift from Emperor Nicholas II to Alexandra Feodorovna and is probably symbolic for their four daughters. The open work and enamelling technique of the presented lot closely imitate this Imperial gift.
