The canvas has been laid down on a sheet of plywood. The plywood has split along the top edge in the upper left corner. This has caused creasing to the canvas with associated paint loss. There are pin holes to the corners and the edges of the canvas are uneven. There are minor frame abrasions with associated paint loss along the edges, most notably to the right of the top edge. Fine craquelure is visible in the light pigment in the foreground as well as elsewhere. There is a light layer of surface dirt. Inspection under UV light reveals an unevenly discoloured varnish layer but no obvious signs of retouching. Framed.
