Un Condamneé à Mort s'est Echappé / A Man Escaped (1956) Poster, French, Style A
Artist: Paul Colin (1892-1985)
Unframed: 62 1/2 x 44 1/2 in. (158.7 x 113 cm)
Paul Colin is considered one of France’s greatest poster artists. He designed over fourteen hundred posters, mainly for the theatre and advertising. He also designed theatre sets and costumes. The simplicity of Colin's design perfectly reflects the essence of the film.
Exceptionally rare French poster, that hardly ever surfaces.
This French film was directed by Robert Bresson, and stars François Leterrier, Charles Le Clainche, Maurice Beerblock and Roland Monod. It is based on André Devigny's memoir, which he wrote whilst serving in Algeria. Devigny was a member of the French Resistance, and his memoir is about his escape from the infamous Montluc prison in Lyon, France. Bresson was also a member of the French Resistance and also imprisoned.
