Art by Renato Casaro (b .1935)

72 x 48 in. (183 x 122 cm)

This film was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. It is set in Los Angeles in 1969 and shows the life of an actor and his stunt double, as Hollywood moves away from its golden age, and careers change. It is set against changed real-life events of the time.

In order to boost the promotion of this film, Quentin Tarantino asked the renowned artist Renato Casaro to come out of retirement and design a series of posters in the 60s/70s Italian style depicting Leonardo DiCaprio as Rick Dalton, a faded western TV star, starring in Nebraska Jim. These posters were pasted on any available hoardings in New York, and in some cases, as many as ten were stuck up together. This created a huge impact and started the film's momentum.
