The canvas is lined. The painting presents a handsome sitter though craquelure is visible throughout. Inspection under UV shows a possible spot of repair by the sleeves at right, where the shadows are. Scattered inpainting that addresses the craquelure also fluoresces throughout under UV. Painting is offered framed.

It is likely that this painting dates to the first decade of the 17th century, when Curradi, who predominantly painted religious subjects, also completed a few portraits. We are grateful to Professor Francesca Baldassari for endorsing the attribution to Francesco Curradi on the basis of photographs.
