17TH CENTURY FOLLOWER OF DOMENICO PULIGO | PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG MAN IN BLACK

This bust-length portrait of a young man follows a three-quarter length portrait painted by Domenico Puligo around 1525. That painting, which is today in Florence in the Galleria Palatina, Palazzo Pitti (inv. no 184),¹ entered the Medici collection in the 1630s, after which time the present panel was likely completed.
