CIRCLE OF PIETRO ANTONIO ROTARI
A YOUNG WOMAN HOLDING A MASK
oil on canvas
canvas: 24¾ by 20¾ in.; 62.9 by 52.7 cm.
framed: 29 by 22 in.; 73.7 by 55.9 cm.
The canvas is lined. The canvas presents a beautiful sitter with her rosy, proper right cheek well preserved. Minor craquelure is visible throughout. Paint surface has suffered some thinness, like on the flowers on her dress. Inspection under UV shows thin retouching scattered throughout addressing the craquelure. A more concentrated spot of retouching to the sitter's chest down to her gown and the bottom of her hat also fluoresces. Offered framed.
