Casimer also drew this sitter using black chalks and paper (see lot 253). That work contains an inscription, written on an old label by an unknown hand. It reads: Mr. Bronner depin[?] de Casimir Karpff de / Colmar.- / Mr. Bronner ainsi que Casimer Karpff etainent les amis d'efance de mon père. / Hanover le 21 [?] Mars 1869[?].
