The present plaque would have formed part of a series of probably thirteen plaques depicting the Habsburg Emperors. Nine reliefs from such a set are preserved in the Victoria and Albert Museum (inv. nos. A.11-1977 - A.19-1977). It is likely that these plaques were mounted on furnishings such as cabinets.
