The single panel is flat and stable. The paint surface is dirty and the varnish is discoloured. It is possible to discern a number of discoloured retouchings to previous losses, and there is an old woodworm hole upper right. The blues of Christ's robe have degraded, causing a distinct network of craquelure to develop. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms the numerous pin-prick retouchings scattered throughout which are visible in raking light, and reveals lines of retouching to the network of craquelure in Christ's robe, along with a more concentrated area of retouching in the foliage upper right approx. 12 x 3 cm. The painting is in fairly good condition and will benefit from some attention.
