OHNE TITEL (SANS TITRE)
signé Max Ernst (en bas à droite)
huile sur carton
35,8 x 28,5 cm; 14 x 11¼ in.
Peint vers 1919.
The cardboard is stable and slightly undulating. There are a few pinholes along the extreme edges. There are creases associated with small paint losses and spots of retouching visible under UV light to the lower left and upper right corners. There is an uneven varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating, however examination under UV light appears to reveal small dots and lines of cosmetic retouching in places, notably below the flower, to the extreme right standing woman and along the extreme edges. There are a few scattered tiny paint losses, notably visible to the standing woman’s neck and bust and to the right part of the extreme lower house. There are a few fine lines of stable craquelure in places, notably to the central bearded man. There is some superficial dirt ingrained to the varnish in areas. This work is in overall good condition.
