Movement: damascened, lever escapement, jewelled to the centre, bi-metallic compensation balance, blued steel overcoil spring, the steel chronograph mechanism partially visible to the backplate, two polished steel hammers repeating on coiled gongs, signed and numbered Henry Capt, Genève, no. 39834

Dial: gold, Roman numerals, black outer ring for minutes/chronograph seconds with red Arabic numerals, four sunken subsidiary dials each with shell-form escutcheons to their centres and calibrated for date, seconds, day in German and month combined with leap year indication, blued steel hands, central chronograph seconds

Case: gold, the back chased and engraved with a pair of winged mythical beasts beside an urn and surrounded by scrolling foliage, bezel and band chased and engraved with geometric motifs and stylised flowers and foliage, pusher to band beneath 4 o'clock for manually advancing day and date in tandem, decoratively engraved sunken repeating slide, engraved band to bow, polished gold cuvette signed and numbered Henry Capt à Genève, no. 39834, case back with maker's mark JR possibly JER in rectangular cartouche, numbered 39834
