Jean-Pierre Gregson was officially watchmaker to Louis XVI from around 1776, and signed some of his timepieces accordingly. However, he later stopped using this title as the French Revolution took hold. Gregson fled revolutionary Paris in 1790 and returned to London where he was from originally. In London he set up a new workshop, and signed his work Gregson, London.
