Compare a related jade cup, similarly set to one side with a stylized scrolling handle forming a dragon and a bird and carved around the body with bands of archaistic motifs, from the collection of Desmond Gure, now in the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Washington, D.C., included in the Oriental Ceramic Society's exhibition and published in 'The Arts of the Ming Dynasty', Transactions of the Oriental Ceramic Society, London, 1958, pl. 87, fig. 284. See a more ornate jade cup of a taller form, similarly carved to one side with a vertical openwork flange of stylized scrolling dragons, attributed to the Ming dynasty, from the Qing Court Collection, now in the Palace Museum, Beijing, published in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum.
