It has not been possible to examine the work entirely unframed. There is a milky varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating. However examination under UV light appears to reveal small spots of retouching at all four corners and along the extreme edges and a few further dots of retouching in places, notably to the black pigment towards the centre of the composition. There are trees dots of minor old paint flaking towards the lower left corner, which do not fluoresce under UV light. There is a bump to the upper left corner and some minor lines of craquelure in places, notably in the black pigment to the upper right quadrant. There is some light frame rubbing along the extreme edges. This work is in overall good condition.
