COUCHER DE SOLEIL SUR SAINTE-ADRESSE

Gouache and watercolor on paper laid down on board

19⅝ by 25½ in. (48.8 by 64.6 cm)

Framed: 26⅝ by 32⅞ in. (68 by 83 cm)

Executed circa 1924.

Executed on cream colored wove paper laid down to a board. Top, left and right edges are cut; the bottom edge is deckled. There is an approximately 1 inch horizontal flattened crease near the center of the left edge. Sheet is slightly time stained and there is a mat burn around the extreme perimeter of the sheet, measuring up to ½ inch along the bottom edge and as little as 1/8 inch along right and left edges. While the sheet is slightly time darkened the colors overall are relatively bright and fresh though there may be some fading, especially in the lightest areas of watercolor application. A few pindots of foxing scattered throughout, otherwise fine. This work is in good condition.
