The reference 1680 was introduced 1969 and has revolutionized the modern-day Submariner, as it was the first to offer a date function. Earlier iterations of the reference 1680 are referred to as 'red' Submariner due to the red 'Submariner' text on the dial above six o'clock, such as visible on the present lot, as opposed to later examples which had the 'Submariner' text written in white.
The present watch is an attractive 'red' Submariner that is offered complete with its Rolex guarantee and presentation case. It is further retained in attractive condition and is equipped with a Mark IV dial.
