Created for the Baselworld in 2016, the Big Bang Unico Sapphire automatic flyback chronograph wristwatch is the watchmaking milestone for its complex and mesmerizing case design.
Hublot created 500 (this is watch number 214) Big Bang Unico Sapphire models cut straight from blocks of sapphire, a material which is almost as hard and scratch-resistant as diamond. It is extremely difficult to machine and many watch brands have only reserved sapphire for one-of-a-kind pieces or very exclusive collections, such as the Richard Mille 56-02 which is only limited to 10 pieces. Nonetheless, Hublot has taken on the challenge and asserted its expertise in sapphire cutting by interpreting it in a "large collection" of 500 pieces. The dial is constructed from transparent resin enabling you to see the caliber Unico HUB1242 flyback chronograph movement.
According to our research, this is only the second time a Big Bang Unico Sapphire being offered in public auction.
