The Constant Escapement L.M. pays tribute to two significant figures from the manufacturer: Constant Girard-Perregaux who founded the company, and Luigi Macaluso who promoted the movement of the present watch. 

Constant force is a perplexing topic in the world of horology. To better understand this, imagine the motion of a wind up car. When fully wound, the car runs at full speed, and as energy depletes it slows down and finally comes to a stop. The same could be said for watches, force transferred from the barrel to the movement depreciates over time, and this inconsistency may lead to accuracy issues. To solve this problem, the ingenious minds of Girard-Perregaux comes into play. The present Constant Escapement L.M. showcases its mastermind on the lower half of the watch, with an openwork complication reminiscent of a beautiful butterfly. It incorporates a 14 micron silicon blade on its movement, which delivers a snap back effect to the nickel escape wheels below, producing its own constant force. No matter how high or how low the energy stored in the barrel will release, the same amount of energy is delivered to the balance thanks to the impulse from the silicon blade. Truly a legendary innovation, the present watch was awarded for the Timezone watch of the year and the GPHG in 2013.
