Description

JERUSALEM, CHARLES MOTTRAM, SCARBOROUGH: GEORGE LORD BEEFORTH; LONDON: HAYWARD & LEGGATT, 1860

An engraving (to sight: 26 1/4 x 38 1/2 in.; 667 x 978 cm), richly hand-colored and stamped with the engraver’s monogram in red ink at lower left.

A handsome engraving portraying the Temple Mount in its present state, with the Dome of the Rock standing where the Temple once did and Al-Aqsa Mosque not far away. The engraving is after a painting, “Jerusalem in her Fall,” by Henry C. Selous (1803-1890).
