Overall in very good condition. A rare model by François-Xavier Lalanne rarely seen at auction. The piece presents with a dense and nuanced black patina in well-preserved condition throughout. The patina with occasional and very minor discoloration revealing the bronze undersurface, concentrated to the top of the shell, tail and edges of the piece consistent with age and gentle use. The underside of the neck and tail with areas of verdigris marks which are not visible unless closely inspected and consistent with age. The bronze surface with surface and casting irregularities, minute pinholes and occasional scattered thatching inherent to the making. Some very minor and occasional scuffing and light surface scratches consistent with gentle handling. The arrow presents with slightly more texture to the surface overall which enhances the dynamic quality of the piece. Sculptural and playful, this sculpture provides collectors with the opportunity to acquire a rare form by the artist.
