Overall in very good condition. This rare iteration of the iconic design by Le Corbusier, Perriand and Jeanneret provides collectors with an exciting opportunity to acquire an early version of the model. The lacquered surface appears to have been professionally repainted at some point in the history of the piece. The lacquered surfaces present with abrasions, flecks and scattered areas of loss to the lacquer concentrated to the edges.
The chromium-plated metal is in very good condition overall with some light surface scratches and extremely minute pitting consistent with age. The chair retains period, if not original, metal springs which present with oxidation throughout. The hide exhibits signs of age, most pronounced in the middle of the seating area which presents with more concentrated scratches, discoloration and rubbing to the surface. The left hand side of the footrest with an area of loss to the hide upholstery accompanied by a tear, which covers an area measuring approximately 2 inches long. The bolster pillow shows signs of age as well and presents with creasing to the leather, discoloration, abrasions concentrated to the center, as well as partial unstitching to the leather band. The chair is easily adjustable and is fully functional.
