QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY

清十九世紀 御製黃地絲絨五龍紋地毯 《乾清宮御用》款



brightly decorated against a ground of silver-wrapped threads with five dragons, surrounded by borders of brocade and the 'Eight Treasures' emblems, the top edge with an inscription reading Qianqing Gong yuyong (For use in the Palace of Heavenly Purity)


99 by 62 in., 251.5 by 157.5 cm

Collection of Sun Tse-kiong, grandson of Sun Yat-sen, acquired on 27th May 1967, and thence by descent.
