A 'LONGQUAN' CELADON-GLAZED EWER

YUAN / MING DYNASTY 

元 / 明 龍泉窰青釉執壺


elegantly potted, the pear-shaped body set atop a slightly tapered foot and rising to a waisted neck with two incised concentric lines below a lipped rim, set on one side with a curved spout, and to the other with a strap handle, covered overall in a rich sea-green glaze stopping neatly above the foot to reveal the burnt orange body, wood cover, Japanese wood box (4) 


Height 5⅜ in., 13.7 cm 

Mayuyama & Co., Tokyo, prior to 17th December 1950.

Collection of Victor (1919-2013) and Takako (1923-2015) Hauge, and thence by descent.
