A RARE SANCAI-GLAZED OCTAFOIL STACKING DISH
LATE TANG DYNASTY
comprising eight lobes on a high conforming foot flush to the rim and a shallow well with a stepped lip, moulded to each side with cartouches containing a leafy peony bloom, separated by simulated bamboo borders, the interiors and leaves glazed green, the peonies and borders in amber, the cartouches in a straw glaze
Width 17 cm, 6¾ in.
There is restoration to a circa 4.5 x 1.5cm., triangular section of the rim.
