One centred on a carved nephrite scarab set with rose diamonds, with wings applied with red, green and white enamel and accented with circular-cut rubies, maker's mark CB for Carl Bacher; the other similarly set, centred on a carved carnelian scarab, the reverse of the carnelian engraved with hieroglyphics, maker's mark CB for Carl Bacher, numbered, Austro-Hungarian assay mark; circa 1900.

Carnelian - stamped with Austro Hungarian assay mark for Vienna, 14 carat gold, maker's mark CB for Carl Bacher. Numbered DRGM NNvS, N 144187. Width approximately 48mm. Some tarnish, light pitting to enamel and light wear to rubies.


Nephrite - Reverse with stamped initials CB for Carl Bacher. Enamel in good condition, some minor burst bubbles and unevenness to surface. Discolouration to metal, traces of solder to juncture of one ring and scarab setting. Overall length approximately 50mm.


Both brooch fittings in good working order, closing securely. In good condition, consistent with age.
