ANCIENT COIN NECKLACE
In the archaeological revival style, designed as a fringe of collet-set of Greek and Roman coins, enhanced with bead decoration, connected by a snake link chain, inner circumference approximately 390mm, fitted case signed C. Tombini; 1870s.

Unsigned. The chains on either side of the clasp kink easily. Some beads with small indents. One bezel on a coin near clasp with two small splits to the edge (coin still secure). Some light tarnish to metal, more pronouced on coins (some green discolouration). Smallest coin measures approximately 9mm diameter, largest approximately 14.5mm. Largest coin (in centre) featuring head of Atalanta, wearing petasos and boar, is an AR Hemidrachm, from Aetolia (c. 279-168 BC). Small coins with scallop shell and dolphin are Tarentum, from Calabria (c. 275-200 BC). Gross weight approximately 78.9 grams. Case stamped C. Tombini, Roma Babuino No. 65, Londra 22 Wigmore St.
