(FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR)
By the Honorable Thomas Hutchinson, Esq; Lieutenant Governor and Commander in Cheif. Province of Massachusetts-Bay: 6 June 1766
Printed handbill (8 x 6 3/8 in.; 202 x 162 mm). Signed in type by Adjutant General William Brattle; verso of vertical margins lightly reinforced with tissue. The consignor has independently obtained a letter of authenticity from PSA that will accompany the lot.
A French and Indian War recruiting broadside offering bounties for early enlistment. At the behest of Adjutant General William Brattle, the present handbill makes clear to the public the financial gains that stand to be made when enlisting in His Majesty's Service. Brattle served in two French and Indian Wars, and was generally active in raising troops, and with the general administration of military affairs. He became Adjutant General in 1758.
