The canvas is unlined. There are some minor, localised fine lines of craquelure visible only under close inspection and a small spot of paint flaking in the back of the bay horse. Ultra-violet light reveals a minor c. 1 by 2cm repair in the water (patched on the reverse) and no other notable signs of retouching. This painting is otherwise in good condition.
