circa 1910

favrile glass

engraved 776E L.C. Tiffany-Favrile

20 1/2 in. (52.1 cm) high

11 in. (27.9 cm) diameter of fan

Overall in excellent condition. When viewed firsthand the vase displays a rich cobalt and indigo ground with vibrant and incredibly rich jewel-tone iridescence on the deeply ruffled fan. The glass with scattered minor air bubbles, particulate inclusions and surface irregularities inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The surface of the glass with occasional minor surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The interior of the vase with some surface soiling and minor trapped debris in the stem and foot, which is typical for the form. The foot of the vase has very thick and largely opaque walls. The stem displays an extremely minor lean to the left, which is not visually distracting and does not affect stability and is inherent to production. The underside of the foot with several paper labels applied by a previous owner which could be easily removed. A stunning rare work with extraordinary blue coloration, iridescence, and incredibly elegant form and proportions.
