Bifolia unbound as issued (12 ¼ x 9 ⅜ in.; 311 x 238 mm). Numerous color and black-and-white reproductions. Publisher's cream wrappers, lettered in brown on upper cover, glassine. Burnt orange buckram clamshell case with pochoir reproduction of Readymade Eau & gaz a tous les étages, inside case is a mounted handcolored proof of The Large Glass under plexiglass, cover of the book compartment within the case contains a collage self-portrait of Duchamp; plexiglass and proof warped as usual, exterior of case with some wear, buckram splitting at head and foot of spine.


Water and gas on all floors.


Copy 85 of 110 numbered copies (of a whole edition of 137), signed by Duchamp and Lebel. Duchamp's numbered Self Portrait in Profile inscribed by him "Marcel dechiravit".


This is the first monograph devoted to Duchamp's work. Duchamp and Arnold Fawcus designed the layout of the book and the paper lining for the clamshell case.
