"Naturalmente la cosa che colpisce di più è l'enorme importanza che ha il denaro, senza il quale è difficile che si venga considerati come persone con un cervello e dei sentimenti. Una fra le tante cose che ti assalgono arrivando è la sovrabbondanza di oggetti vecchi, nuovi, roba da mangiare, caramelle, cioccolate. [...] E tutto ciò ha uno strano senso di morte. Gratti la patina che ricopre ogni cosa e sotto trovi la lapide di un tuo antenato."
