1898 - 1976
incised with the artist’s monogram on the smallest black hanging element
sheet metal, wire and paint
35 by 41 by 18 in. 88.9 by 104.1 by 45.7 cm.
Executed in 1956.
This work is registered in the archives of the Calder Foundation, New York, under application number A25261.
This work is in very good condition overall. The elements move smoothly and freely. There is evidence of light wear visible along the edges of the elements and connecting wires, including unobtrusive surface abrasions and some extremely minor pinpoint losses on a few of the elements, which is to be expected with a kinetic work. As to be expected with a work of this construction, a light surface dust has settled on the surface.
